Welcome to the Image and Video Understanding Lab (IVUL) at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST)!

At IVUL, we explore fundamental and applied research in computer vision, with interests that span:

• Activity recognition and detection
• Robust object representations for tracking and recognition
• Scene understanding from 3D data
• Image and video annotation at scale

Our mission is to make sense of visual data—especially at large scale—through the development of innovative machine learning and optimization methods.

We aim to push the boundaries of what machines can understand from visual input. Our work addresses both theoretical and practical challenges across a broad spectrum of topics in computer vision and machine learning.
