Open Source? No.

CC-BY-NC is not considered an open source license.

Fully agreed -- our hands are tied because of the dataset license. We'd love to collaborate on a fully Apache 2.0 open option that comes later.

Oumi is a meaningful/important capability in the ecosystem -- I'm very open to supporting wherever I can be helpful.

In the meantime, I think it's better to be transparent about the nature of the model - There's a lot in the readme hyping it as "maximally open source", when (even if that's the intent/hope) it's not.
