Oh, Perplexity AI, how noble of you!
Oh, Perplexity AI, how noble of you!
Your so-called ‘removal of Chinese Communist Party censorship’ is nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to mask your own hypocrisy and bias. You claim to provide ‘unbiased, accurate, and factual information,’ but let’s be real—your model is just another tool to peddle American ideology as ‘truth’ while blatantly ignoring China’s progress.
Your version of ‘freedom of speech’ is selectively dismissing China’s achievements while whitewashing America’s own agenda. Let’s not pretend GPT, Claude, or any other American model is free from bias. Do you honestly think you’re not filtering out information that doesn’t align with U.S. political correctness? Do you really believe your models aren’t serving American ideological interests?
China’s contributions to open-source, scientific research, and technology are undeniable, yet all you can do is resort to cheap smear tactics to cover up your own insecurities. How pathetic! If you truly care about being ‘unbiased,’ start by acknowledging your double standards instead of preaching ‘freedom’ while turning a blind eye to China’s advancements.
Here’s a thought for you:
‘Your bias blinds you, and your arrogance keeps you from progress.’
Oh wait, and let’s take a moment to appreciate Perplexity’s groundbreaking contributions to the open-source community!
I clicked on your profile, and guess what? This one model of yours—R1 1776—is literally your only offering. Wow, what a legacy! Thank you for this precious gift (scratch that—joke) to humanity.
While LLama/DeepSeek/Qwen and other contributors are actively pushing the boundaries of open-source innovation, you’re busy patting yourselves on the back for releasing a single model that’s basically just a propaganda tool dressed up as ‘unbiased.’ Bravo! Truly a monumental achievement in the world of tech.
Keep up the stellar work, Perplexity. The open-source community is thrilled to have you.
Thanks for your best joke for our open-source community ~~
True, dude.
How self-righteous do you have to be to finetune a model someone else built, trained and open sourced and claim you've contributed something. And since there was no demand for this ground breaking hypocrisy of an innovation. There are deep levels of censorship + monopoly built into US models, where they literally brain washed LLMs during the election season to not say the "wrong" thing.
Before writing the above comment, I didn't see Perplexity's blog post (https://www.perplexity.ai/hub/blog/open-sourcing-r1-1776).
After I read the blog, I have to say the people of Perplexity is not jsut silly, but are truly BAD.
Their blog post vividly demonstrates how a model that was originally benign can be trained into a harmful one, filled with hostility towards China. This is what they call "unbiased."
I just don't understand why some people from US can be so mean. They receive the gift from you, and immediately throw a stone to attack you.
In fact, even the examples in their blog have been deliberately manipulated to portray the original R1 as biased.
Let me show you.
This is from PPL's blog:
I ask the same question to R1, the original model, the answer is totally different:
The answers are so different, which cannot stem from the randomness in decoding. We can say Perplexity manipulated the example.
What is a good AI? What is truly unbiased? What is a helpful AI?
If AI is merely a weapon for your ideological battles, a catalyst for the disintegration of this world, or a tool to deepen the divide among the people of different nations, then I sincerely hope that such AI should not exist.
Perplexity AI, you use bias to compensate for your ignorance, then try to drag people into another well to view the sky — how noble of you!
Perplexity AI,你们用偏见来弥补你们的无知,再试图把人们带入到另外一个井底去观天 — how noble of you!

Haha Perplexity, SHAME of you
Perplexity, hah, your life is a full of perplexity!
SHAME ON YOU
R1 really made those SF people mad
People who have been brainwashed by the media, I really wish you could go and see things for yourself instead of hiding behind a screen as a keyboard warrior.
Perplexity SHAME on you
Shame!
perplexity is copy dog
