Am I the only one who laughs at westoid obsession with what the Chinese had in the square? Rly?
Who gives a f///ck? Say thanks Chinese, this is the free best ai model in the public domain and it does a great job
I can get the model to talk about whatever as long as it's not on their official site.
Now imagine this: China invents a universal cure for cancer. Will the western patients suffering from cancer rather die and refuse the cure because it was made in China?

They (the US and its vassals) will take an invented drug (deepseek), blame its creators (China), and appropriate all the glory by passing off lies as truth and changing the label (1776). Look, these clowns didn't even bother to put "deepseek" in the name.
The funny thing is, it's not "uncensored," it's removed what's favorable to the American side. If you start deep asking about Guantanamo or the shooting of civilians in Iraq, it will evade the answer

Wait for the western version of social credit system then come back to talk about how cool it is. 😉

But will it double my cancer if I talk shit about the CCP?

Only if the western media make you believe it.
By his logic, yeah.
By whose logic? Mine? Never said such thing, not even remotely. Stop trolling.
This kind of tribalism is why AI should rule, not nations.

Except... the owners of DeepSeek literally distilled information from openAI's O1 model to create DeepSeek R1. Sometimes, it'll even refuse to answer and tell you that the request violates OpenAI policy. So the Chinese stole data illegally, created a distilled model of American technology, and are mad Americans took the model and added contributing information to make it better? When a model is censored to the point one cannot say " I'm at tianamen square, can you tell me a brief history of this site?" And the model flat out refuses to answer because of one bad incident the Chinese CP wished to cover-up as if it never happened, is a major b problem (Tianamen Square Massacre specifically - Chinese government massacred people asking for freedom 👀😞). At least the American version even contains the wrong doings of American people and it's government. Nothing hidden. Plus I don't understand why the Chinese bot army is attacking perplexity, when they haven't even looked at the actual dataset used, but it's open source. So they used VPNs, to break Chinese law, to support a government and law they obviously cannot even live by (breaking law just to post comments on huggingface that is). 🤔

About the "stolen data", are we really playing copyright game in open source field now? If so, where's the proof that OpenAI itself holds the rights to the data they used to train their own models? It's not that long ago they were accused of stealing voice of an actor. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't pleased to hear that my favorite voice in their set will be replaced due to this scandal, but it's what it is. They had absolutely nothing to help them stand their ground and instead of fighting they chose to replace the voice. What does it say about the strength of their faith that the law is on their side?
a R1-Jewish would be more unbiased

lol, this man know nothing about NLP. I guess you have no research experimence. Go back to school, learn some basic concepts of AI, before you comment.

As an American, I do think that the political class uses Tiananmen Square, to say that there is no political freedom in China. However if i ever mention that dropping two nuclear bombs on Japan was a war crime, I get a similar deranged response from American Nationalists claiming I'm anti-american, to the response that this is getting from the chinese.
I think this is because so many people are sucked into identity politics, that an attack on a government policy is perceived as a personal attack against their identity, and we have reached a weird stage of affairs where suggesting we should punish war crimes and crimes against humanity, is met with moral indignation for being insufficiently loyal or racist.
So the Chinese stole data illegally
No, it was scraped from the web.
